SUSTAINABILITY FEATURES

Located in the historic Long Ridge area of North Stamford, Connecticut, Windermere on the Lake (WOTL) is a 74 acre conservation community with 24 lakeside homes and gardens. The community includes a gatehouse, a field house with a pool, tennis courts, walking trails, and floating dock. Through sustainable design and practices, this community harmoniously blends with the natural environment.

As president of NRDC-Residential, Mark Robbins was responsible for development of this community. Bartels-Pagiliaro Architects designed the initial four home types (Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire, and Westmorland) - inspired by the 19th century architect, C.F.A. Voysey, a leader in the Arts and Crafts movement. Through the sweeping rooflines, grand windows, graceful forms, luxurious materials, and outstanding craftsmanship, these homes reflect the style of the movement. Additional designs (Hallett and Greenbrier) were designed by James Schettino Architects.

These semi-custom homes included three different garden designs by the famous Bristish architect Simon Johnson: the Robinson, the Mawson, and the Triggs.  The home designs included optional front appearances and amenities.

Each of these EnergyStar certified homes have  eco-friendly features, such as high performance windows and insulation, geothermal heating, building controls, and heat recovery ventilation systems. The residences are 51% more energy efficient than required by international Energy Conservation Code. Optional LEED certification further improves the energy efficiency of the home.
