Niantic Community Church is a Methodist church located in Niantic, Connecticut that welcomes all to attend. In addition to regular weekday services, the church hosts a day care center and Sunday church school for children.
On behalf of the Connecticut Green Bank, MHR Development provided project development services to support an extensive clean energy retrofit that included energy conservation measures, as well as renewable energy generation. The project scope included LED lights with occupancy sensors, building envelope improvements, HVAC improvements, and installation of a roof-mounted solar photovoltaic system that will generate approximately 31,000 kWh per year.
This is the first project in the state of Connecticut to receive financing from the Connecticut Green Bank that incorporates both the Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) funding, as well as a power purchase agreement (PPA). The solar system will receive Renewable Energy Credits (ZRECs) for a 15-year term.
