The Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) provides career technical training, education, job placement, and social programming services for residents of the New London community. The OIC specializes in work force re-entry for the community, especially those whom are working toward overcoming barriers that prevent them access to employment and education.
On behalf of the Connecticut Green Bank, MHR Development provided implementation and technical support for this multi-measure energy retrofit, which included envelope improvements, high efficiency LED lighting retrofit, cooling tower replacement, installation of variable frequency circulatory pumps, and a building management system. The energy upgrades addressed deferred maintenance issues, including an inoperable HVAC system - resulting in an increase in occupant comfort and useable space.
This project is one of the first Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financed projects in the city of New London. It received a grant from the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), and a “comprehensive” incentive from Eversource Energy.
